PMR Bavaria Jaeger & Co traces its origins to a porcelain decorating workshop founded in 1872 in Marktredwitz (Bavaria) by Christoph Jaeger, Wilhelm Jaeger, and Fritz Thomas.
In 1897, they established Porzellanfabrik Jaeger, Thomas & Co. In 1903, Thomas left the company, and it was renamed Porzellanfabrik Marktredwitz, Jaeger & Co. The company survived the Great Depression and both World Wars. Porcelain production ultimately ceased in 1986.
This particular cup, inscribed "Zum Geburtstag" (For your birthday), is a typical example of commemorative porcelain produced in Germany. Such items were often given as gifts for special occasions, featuring floral designs and decorative lettering that were popular during the mid-20th century.
