Hutschenreuther was founded in 1814 by Carolus Magnus Hutschenreuther in Hohenburg, Bavaria, as one of Germany's first private porcelain manufacturers. His son, Lorenz Hutschenreuther, established a second factory in Selb in 1857, which eventually became the main entity, "Hutschenreuther of Selb". The company grew through acquisitions and international recognition for its artistic and high-quality porcelain, including famous figurines and dinnerware. In 2000, Hutschenreuther was acquired by Rosenthal, and it continues today as a brand within the Rosenthal group.
