Obernai is the name of the most famous and recognisable collection from the French faience manufacturer Sarreguemines. The series was created in the early 20th century (around 1904) by watercolour artist Henri Loux.
The collection is named after the Alsatian town of Obernai. The items in this series depict traditional rural scenes from Alsace at that time: half-timbered houses, peasants in national costumes, field work and cosy streets. There are 52 different scenes in total. The tableware is decorated not only with genre scenes, but also with characteristic bouquets of flowers around the edges.
